Something that is REALLY important to know: we label skin care products using INCI (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients) names. We have to, or else Heath Canada will not let us sell them. It is VERY important to follow rules and regulations about how to safely manufacture self care products. If you want to know more about INCI check out the link HERE.
The INCI name for Hemp Seed Oil is: CANNABIS SATIVA seed Oil.
What is the difference between Hemp Seed Oil and CBD (and THC)? Hemp seed will be labelled (or should be) as Cannabis Sativa Oil and CBD will be labelled (or should be) as: Cannabidiol, full-spectrum hemp, PCR (phytocannabinoid-rich), or PCR hemp extracts.
Cannabis (Marijuana) | Cannabis (Hemp Plant) | Cannabis (Hemp Seed) |
Can average 15% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) the psychoactive compound that will make people feel "high" | Must contain LESS than 0.3% THC to be sold legally. | 0 % THC |
Usually contains less than 0.5% CBD | Contains on average 15% CBD | Has only trace amounts of CBD |
Is used medicinally and therapeutically to treat pain, mental health, and illness. | Used to produce: rope, clothing, fuel, home insulation, remediate contaminated soil, etc etc | Seeds are cold-pressed to make oil. Oil is used for cooking and beauty products :) |
The benefits of hemp seed oil for our skin are numerous (which is why we choose to mix it with bee magic and put it in our skin-care products)!
💛 Since it hydrates so well it can really help with the look of fine lines and wrinkles (not that we care, we earned these stripes baby).
We encourage you to give hemp seed oil a try for cooking, and hemp hearts as a dietary supplement. Hemp is an amazing crop, and is part of the regenerative farming movement. We have some AMAZING organic hemp farmers here in Canada doing wonderful things. (If you want to read more about regenerative farming~ it is super awesome!~ here is a link)
